MacRumors site design has been updated.
The new design preserves the basic feel of MacRumors but brings improved "standards" compliance and improved site navigation. Raw HTML file sizes should also be reduced.
Please report any errors or navigational difficulties to arn (http://forums.macrumors.com/member.php?action=getinfo&userid=1).
MacRumors' Forums will also see a major version upgrade in the future at which time the forum style will be brought into line with the new design.
A few things to note:
- Ad free 'contributors' section will be functional shortly.
- Permanent story links can now be found by clicking on the Article Titles.

Let's hope they are trying to patent multiple ideas. I hate to say it, that looks just plain ugly and complicated. I love the ipod for is it's simpllicity. This looks like a mess. To each his/her own.
I agree. This is Apple covering possible bases so the competition cannot implement it. This is all part of the patent game.
No way would Apple use soft buttons! They are, generally, anything BUT intuitive.

Stupid question here, does the iPad 3G GPS work without a data plan? I'm from Montreal Canada and still undecided if I should get the iPad WIfi 64gb or the 3G 32gb.
P.S.: I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 (firmware 4.1) with myWi.

Was in my biochemistry of Nucleic acids class as things began to unfold. First heard about it after class let out. Had a spare before next class, went to the starbucks on campus to check out CNN, as we couldn't log on to site.

Hardly. They should pay more because they owe more.
Oh I completely agree. I assumed that owing more was implicit with my welfare comparison.
I think how much one should pay in taxes should be two pronged; one prong determines how much net benefit you gain from the government, and the other determines how capable you are of paying towards that received benefit.
In the case of most low-income welfare beneficiaries, they simply are not able to pay back what they receive in benefits (hence why we don't expect them to). On the other hand, we also don't ask wealthier individuals who receive very vast benefits to pay towards those benefits to any meaningful degree, even though they are capable.
Apparently being selfish and myopic is patriotic.

Does anyone have a facebook fan page set up for your photography? I never really considered setting one up before. Just figured the website would be sufficient, and email for receiving messages and etc. But, today, on a whim I went for it and set up an artist page. It's actually quite interesting, and a whole different experience from maintaining your normal photography site. Actually, since I'm in the beginning stages of a new site design, which will essentially be a restructuring from the ground up for how it is utilized, do you think it is best to leave the interaction side of things to facebook and let the website be more of a deep archive of the work, resume, etc?
If you're interested in checking out the fb artist page I set up, which actually includes in progress images of new work I'm putting together, it can be found at http://www.facebook.com/andybloxhamimagery

My university's tech department uses several of THESE (http://www.newertech.com/products/charger_cond.php) to charge their library loaner Macbook batteries between checkouts. I asked them about it once as I was having the need to keep two batteries charged. Said that it helps with conditioning as well.
Thanks, that looks really interesting.

AJAX is the next big thing in web development, so yes, brush up on your Javascript and XML skills - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX
Yeah, I know XML, and am looking at XSL and XSLT as I type this. Good stuff.
What kills me is all this XML stuff is so simple (at least in its philosophy), yet so powerful in what it can do.
I've also answered my own question here (http://www.w3schools.com/). :)

That works so well! And I see there are "options" you can add with PayPal. Great! I hope my friend goes for the "per transaction" cost thing... she might be worried about that and would feel more comfortable with a flat monthly fee, I'm not sure...
Anyone else have experience with this system?

They asked the right question about LTE -- just didn't get the answer I wanted to hear.
but what do you expect? For them to say "Yes, we LOVE LTE and we can't wait to show you our new iPhone with LTE!"...
... if only.

I think creative commons is perfectly fine. I don't see the need to copy a lot from Wikipedia either and the content can still be used freely if you adhere to the rules of attributions... I think it's a good one to use.

Ah, but YOU'RE missing the point completely. As resolutions inscrease the interface can scale up because it is resolution independent in 10.5. Web pages are NOT resolution independent for the most part.
Fear not sir, the WebKit team is already working on resolution independence. I'm pretty sure that some of the web specifications are being upgraded to provide resolution scalability as well. (For instance providing a choice between two resolutions for the same image on the page.) Alas, the web is such a clusterf* of randomly assorted technologies, most of which were never intended to scale to hi-res displays, so I expect the transition to be long and painful, but I trust that the Web Kit team will come up with clever ways to carefully scale up the content.

Thanks asif. From what some others have said, Infinite Loop is good, so I have that on order from the States. Once I've read it, I'll swap it with Apple Confidential with you maybe? :) Thanks for the offer.

Hello Everyone!
I recently joined MacRumors! Anyway, I want to ask the opinion of everyone.
Do you think the iPod Classic will get an update? Someone stole my iPod August 2010 and I haven't had the money to get a new one. But since it is my birthday, my family told me they'll buy me a new one.
Am really a music person. Am not so much into apps and stuff. But, most of my friends are telling me to just get an iPod touch since it is sooo much better than the iPod classic.
So, I was wondering if anyone can help me decide if I'll buy an iPod now or wait for September? and, which iPod to buy? Classic or Touch.
Thanks!! ;)
