The only complaint I have, and have had for awhile now, is the incorporation of macbytes and dailytunes. I understand that revenue needs to be generated for this site to continue but it really gets in the way of mac rumors/talk.
It use to be fun talking about hardware/software/etc in the forums. Now those topics are way down the page where no one scrolls to anymore.
I say make banner ads for those sites. Don't try and tie them all together. Is this site about mac rumors, itune songs or mac information? Starting to look like macmice.com.
Just a heads up, ever since these changes happened, I started to not come here as much. (Don't be lame and try to flame me on this).

If you look closely, Anandtech refers to a MacRumors thread that we started here 2 months ago. That said, the Samsung drive does appear to be a nice silent upgrade for those lucky enough to get it.

A semi-epitaph post. I picked up Metal Slug Anthology for the Wii on Friday and have pretty much not stopped playing. Just about as addictive as hell. I mean I've heard of the series and played the GBA game (eww) but I was not expecting it to be this damn fun! It's totally up my street. Co-op, stunning pixel art, silly, gameplay to perhaps even rival classic Mario games.
Anyone else got this? 7 near perfect games. I didn't even mind paying Gamestation's ludicrous 39.99.
When is 3D going to look as good as this?

Assuming your categorical variables are factors, you can use them integers, or call as.integer. When creating the factor, you can determine the sequence with levels()
> clrs <- factor(c("red", "green", "blue"))
> clrs
[1] red green blue
Levels: blue green red
> as.integer(clrs)
[1] 3 2 1
> clrs <- factor(c("red", "green", "blue"), levels=c("red", "green", "blue"))
> clrs
[1] red green blue
Levels: red green blue
> as.integer(clrs)
[1] 1 2 3
> r <- rnorm(10)
> r

Well, I used disk utilities and it won't find hard drive. No where in the system it shows the hard drive. I'm going to use an install disc and see if it finds it.
If I reformat drive with MacDrive, will it be easier???

Not sure of Magsafe/MBA-friendly options for Tekkeon MP3750, MP3450 or MP3450i (http://www.tekkeon.com/products-mypowerall.html). ('R2' flavor of MP3450i sold at 3gstore.com; not sure what 'R2' does, don't yet see 'R2' description/notes at Tekkeon.com.)
Tekkeon *does* (or at least _did_) make a power adapter for MacBook Pro/Air... but it's kind of a home-made jobby, and they only had -one- left. They don't plan to make anymore. So I snagged it (even though I didn't buy one of their batteries yet).
Apparently this cable/adapter can be home-made via taking the tip/cable off a Magsafe adapter and wiring it together with one of their (or some commodity) part, awaiting info on that. If anyone's interested, lemme know and I'll post.
In meantime... why no love for this thread? Would think with MacBook Air's having no interchange-able battery that there'd be lots of folks interested in external/extended batteries for MBAs...? to help for extended away-from-"wall"-power-socket time (for me it's sitting and working outside for long stretches)...?

I thought it was aweful. The acting was bad. The actors timing was all off, but it is a new show so maybe it will take a few episodes for them to get in a good rthym

Awesome, I just switched from Sprint to T-Mobile. Granted, i had to pay $200 for the Blackberry Pearl, but mid-2007 is still quite a ways away. I guess it all depends on how cool this "iPhone" really is.

1. Totally integrated visual sound editing, live with all the tools from Sound Track Pro. Who wants to go out to a sperate application.
Me. I'd rather have applications tailored to a single area than have one giant bloated one.
4. Of course there will be some sort of realtime compression as you continue to work. And the compression engine will be completely overhauled.
Whaddaya mean by this?
DVD Studio Pro needs a complete overhaul too and should support blu-ray authoring. Perhaps the bag of hurt is coming to Lion :-) But burners will be Thunderbolt external only, making it of use primarily to content creators protecting Apple's Digital Download model.
I think the only thing that's kept FCS's Blu-ray support limited so far is the would-be awkwardness of offering software that their driveless hardware cannot work with. I don't know where that leaves things. Perhaps Apple with pimp a third-party external drive, because I don't see them releasing an Apple-branded one.
I can't be bothered thinking up my own detailed predictions at this juncture, but I reckon if Apple pinned this release on revolutionising media management and I mean something that takes you right through the whole post-production process it'd be a gamechanger/showstopper/whatever-OTT-phrase-you-prefer.

This is going to be great. Everyone will love it. You know why? I love it. And I hate everything at first. :D
I think it would be a good time to say that maybe this thread isn't the best place for everyone to go nuts complaining about every little qualm they have, ie. the rollovers should be darker, or something silly like that.
Best of luck with the redesign.

Why would I not want to use an FM transmitter? what would you recommend?
Oh, hmmm...., sorry, maybe you would. I was guessing it was beneath the level you're shooting form because the sound quality won't be quite CD-level... But it's the cheapest, easiest solution. You get something like the Griffin iTrip, and maybe a powered antenna for your receiver to strengthen the signal? Then you just select a station in an unused portion of the radio bandwidth and voila.
But again, not CD quality....But it might not be so bad either. It depends on the music you listen to, and how much of an audiophile you consider yourself. If you take relatively "quiet" music -- anything acoustic, especially baroque or chamber music, but even someone singing over a guitar, I think you will probably be able to notice a small amount of hissing or static if you concentrate, vs. a wired connection.
Griffin iTrip: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip/
Powered antennas should be readily available anywhere quality receivers are sold.
As far as the iTrip goes, there are often deals for it on dealnews.com -- you can also use it to listen to your iPod in the car.

As of right now I don't see iWork as a strong MS Office competitor. It is more of a competitor of MS Works (For home use). As far as I have seen it Keynote is the only product in the list that can compete with MS Office (Powerpoint). I would love to see a good competitor to MS Office. But look at the other competitors out there.
Word Perfect (No Modern Mac Port, And the other OS Versions have a lot of technical problems)
Open Office (Too wrapped up in being open source and making the developers look good and less on actually making it a good product)
iWork (Best Interface for most features but lacking in "Pro" Features)
Koffice, abiword (better then MS Write but not by much)
Googles Spreadsheet and Word Processor (Way to limited)
While MS Office still has it faults unfortunately it is still the best product out there.
If you are just writing papers for schooland you want to give your documents a little more style then iWorks is great. If you need to do serious work with heavy calculations and more advanced colarabration then office is still the only bet.

I have a 15GB iPod for windows and I am trying to convert AAC files (which are on my iPod) to MP3 files so I can transfer them on to my computer. Is there a way to do this with windows.
