I have a PB Ti G4 (Model: M8592LL/A) with the original Airport card. I cant get this to connect to WPA networks. WEP wireless works fine.
When I have a network set as WPA the PowerBook sees the network and when I attempt to join it recognizes it as a "WPA Personal" network, however I cannot join the network at all.
Is there anything I can do for this? Do I have to buy an Airport Extreme card??

I like the way the TrimSleeve looks and I like how it has the "easy pull out tab" thing but I don't like how leaves some of the MBA exposed. Also I need a case right away because I take my MBA to class everyday so I went ahead and bought the Pixelsleeve from Amazon today. I had a $10 credit so I only paid $22 after 1 day shipping. It'll be here tomorrow, I'm looking forward to seeing how it is. I'll post pics and impressions when it comes tomorrow.

Im not creeped out by it at all. To me it looks like a statement about the actor or acting. Its just the heavily blurred background that doesnt make sense. There's a diagonal pavement line next to the guys leg which leads the viewer to assume the long reeds/grass on the far lower left of the picture is actually next to the actor. The fading of sharpness doesnt make sense at that point. The confusion is caused I assume by the compression caused by a long lens so its something to watch out for. I generally think it should be more depth of field.
If you are trying to freak me out then change the subservient pose of the model to something more aggressive.

What a news story. Closest the "article" comes to a source is "supposedly".
Why would he release a jailbreak for 4.3 tomorrow when 4.3.1 is imminent? A vulnerability was found publicly at pwn2own that needs to be patched by Apple. Burning another vulnerability would be dumb. Sorry, just sayin'. It's not gonna be tomorrow.
Why would you spread rumors of a 4.3.1? What's your source for the pwn2own "publically" found bug on 4.3? Do share wise one.

It also seems that commercial aspects of the site are now more important than the site itself, given the priority advertising space has.
given the importance of revenue to keep the site running, though, i think it makes sense

Creative for one.
I doubt very much whether Creative would p*ss off Apple having just been given a $100m end of hostilities settlement.
How hard can Fairplay be to crack? If this guy can do it I'm sure most major software/hardware/telephone companies could find a way, but they choose not to. If they did, what would stop Apple from hacking WMA and basically declaring DRM dead?

This is a very promising application and makes buying the 30" cinema display more feasiable for the average mac user.
i hope apple notices its development and i hope some sort of investment is made......image a OSX media center edition (like WMCE 2005) that would really cheese M$ off

I agree.
Tho I really wonder who is using Facetime? I know everyone talks about it like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it's like the webcam on my mac, yeah it's nice to have when I call my mom across the country, but it's something I'd use about 0.01% of the time, and if I were going to use it, it's more likely I'd tell my mom to get on the computer and skype me on my computer to have full screen HD video chat...
I use FaceTime every other night to speak with my daughter.

you don't need to have cablevision subscription to use this? i.e. being a customer
You do have to have an account, therefor a customer is required. OR if you have friends/family and you could use their account.

If using the 1880-ix-12 controller will the non-raid 2x SSD drives in Pass Through mode that I want to attach to the Areca controller be bootable? Does the Areca card at all allow for the system to boot off it or will any attached volumes only initialize once in the OS ?
Yes.
Once you flash the card with the EBC firmware, and the desired disk on the card has been selected as the boot location in OS X, it will boot (array, JBOD, or pass through).

I have a 3 part tent "1 Large Middle and 2 small separate tents linked by a tunnel for privacy" It can be used for up to 12 people "Mini Condo Type" i would be willing to bring that and even share with other folks waiting also.
Since it may rain your tent would be amazing. I have just a big umbrella.

Given how much a sham their extended warranties are (hardware-based, not brand- or OS-based; protect a $2200 MBP and they'll replace it with a $500 Windows-based thing with the same CPU inside.)

what would be the security problem?
If Bluetooth is set to listen during sleep on a laptop, for example, thieves can use Bluetooth phones and other devices to detect nice laptops/phones to steal from car parks and the like. Also leaving it on and 'discoverable' could make your private data vulnerable.

I recent had to make this same decision......
In my case, I had to chose between a Quicksilver 733 that CompUSA had for $999 (including 2 year warranty) or one of the new ones (in my case, probably the dual 867) for $1699.
I went with the Quicksilver, and with the money I saved from the new ones...I've replaced the stock hard drive with 2 WD Special Edition drives, maxed out the RAM at 1.5GB, and will add a DVD-R drive. With the upgrades, I've still spent less than $1699.
I don't regret my choice at all....I realize "official" benchmarks will show my machine is slower than the new models, however, after having played with them in the store, my eyes can't tell any difference. Yes, for Photoshop and iMovie, the new ones would probably save me some time, but the Quicksilver will hold me over nicely until there is a "major" upgrade.
I'll be content to keep this until Apple goes with the new IBM chip, which seems to be able to offer a significant performance boost. Until then, I'll have a drink and wait :)
