Is it worth this price or not?
Short answer: yes, it's a decent price for that machine assuming it has no cosmetic or functional issues.
Thinking of buying it but not sure yet... (I use an intel MacBook too, but I have always wanted a PowerPC mac :p)
If you just want a machine to fool around with for fun, this one ain't bad - but bear in mind that it is almost a technological orphan from Apple's perspective, as Apple is continuously moving away from supporting the PowerPC. It can't run the most current OS anymore, and software updates will dry up soon. It's still a good second machine though.

I like the redesign, but as a lot of you have said, I dont like the left bar too, cause it seems to clutter the page a lot.

Wasn't there a rumor going around a couple months back about M$ making VPC free? That would make sense now if they're going to discontinue it, and let us PPC users have it for free. Who wants to pay for a product that won't receive any updates?
VPC is free for Windows. Not the Mac version. They can wring a little bit of life out of the PPC version yet, I'm sure. There's no (serious) competition on PPC.

Is the URL correct for where you are posting to? Your sample looked to be an absolute address so you might be missing part of the path?!?
That looks like the problem, thanks. (P.S I copied this sample from yahoo answers) Sorry I have no idea how to use path or fix it. Any idea how to fix this or what the path tag is that I am missing? (I am just trying to make the website to a local folder at first to test for a comment box).

So i got this iMac off eBay for just 2.15! It's a tangerine model with a 10 gig HD and 160 mb RAM, running 10.3.9. Actually came with Word for mac installed. Gonna get a usb dongle to get it on the web. My only complaint is that I can't sync my iPhone.
:eek:that's the exact same spec (but i had a 6gig hdd) that my first imac was but i paid 25

Hi guys, so I have a 2010 13" 1.86 GHz 4 GB RAM MBA and was wondering if you think it will run Lion smoothly.
I don't really do anything intensive with my laptop. 95% of my usage consists of internet browser, Microsoft Office apps, email, calendar, HD videos and iTunes. I was just wondering if I'll get the same "smooth" performance I get now running Lion.
Thanks!
Yes it will run Lion smoothly. Even better than SL.

i suspect we'll see leopard released in january.
That would be really, really nice. I'm looking forward to this release a lot, especially for the opengl improvements. But it still won't keep me from buying a new laptop now. This will definitely be worth $129

Max (http://sbooth.org/Max/) is among the more popular free options. :) I really like it, although it's been a while since I used it. It supports FLAC and OGG, although I used it for other things...
Max is excellent, I just used it this past weekend for some FLAC file that were lying around. Worked like a charm, like usual.
Oh yeah, and archive.org has some excellent recordings from SummerFest's of the past.

You may find other download sources for less, but I think iTMS is by far the best. For me, it's the only way to go :)

Very nice!
I walk by this one occasionally and wish that I could just buy it.

That's really cool; obviously some Apple fan lives there perhaps. If it lit up at night it'd be great.

Looks good! Only thing I'm not fond of are the bigger avatars (although I will be making mine bigger to fit in), the huge text capabilities (I think this will be abused) and the different colored smilies. But that's just IMHO! ;) The rest of it looks great. Good job!

Cool, but it's not for me. I need optical storage, better CPU and GPU, more ports. All the same reasons why I never bothered with a netbook :p.

Considering it is the Dock and not The Dock, why does the title include 'the' in the first place?
Well, it doesn't any more. Who knows why it did before.

There were several stories on that a while back. (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=google+dns+slow+apple+downloads&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8)Don't recall the outcome.
FWIW, I'm on OpenDNS and I just installed Tiger from scratch on 2 machines and downloads were very fast.
I reverted back to my ISP's DNS servers and will report back when Apple releases another update - OpenDNS has domain hijacking issues/censorship, so I won't use it.

I have to say that my loyalty to Apple dropped a bit. Mac Pro really tested my patience and the update was definately worth it but why in the hell did they not update ACDs to go with it? I really hope they will do silent update this week so I can buy my MP+ACD and forget Apple for few months (until I have money for a notebook) :)
Second, I want to get an ACD but they are to thick, and a little pricy. I am surprised that the ACDs are about the thickness of an imac.
Check out their new 30" display.
<snip>
that sounds cool and all on paper, but its still a dell. And in my experience with dell...
Apple will release newly designed ACD's along with the newly designed Mac Pro, and since they just released a Mac Pro, I wouldn't think it would be released for maybe another 7 months to a year.
Don't hold your breath. The current ACD's are amazing.
True but he has a point...
More inputs! I'd love to have an ACD hooked up to an :apple:tv in my living room, and one hooked up to a Wii in my bedroom, etc. At the moment my best option is a 27" Dell... I'd love to have Apple styling instead.
And I would love 4 HDMI ports in the 30".:D
built in isight & ir receiver
& i'm sure folks want faster reaction time better graphics capabilities
& somewhere, someone wants it glossy
I'd much rather have an external isight, the option to have it would be good, and the ability to turn and move it without moving the screen would be cool as well. I would like a wireless isight with one button on the back, the photo button. It'd be like having an eye fi card in your isight.

The first adapter is what I use to connect to my MB i7 now (i.e., going from Dual-Link to MiniDisplay). Unfortunately, the PC is a laptop with a VGA port (no Dual-Link DVI). So I guess that offers a second option, which using a Dual-Link DVI female to VGA mail adapter. Would that work?
no, for at least a couple of reasons
i) the mini displayport to VGA adapter is passive, it means that it's designed to hook up vga displays to a mac with mini displayport and nothing else.
ii) VGA resolution is limited to 1920*1200, while the cinema display is 2560*1600
plus, if your video card has only one VGA port, it's probably too old to push so many pixels smoothly. Consider an upgrade.
EDIT: I've just read that you want to connect your laptop, not a desktop. sorry, there no solution in this case. :(

I'm going to guess it's trying to play on high settings on such a large resolution. Even some desktop graphics cards would have trouble with that. That's also why it gets so hot. I'd suggest opening the lid after waking it up with the cinema display on if you're going to play games. That won't turn the MBP display on, but it will allow it to vent more heat. Try that, and if it doesn't work, you'll either have to lower the settings or the resolution.

By 'upside down' he means rotated 180 degrees, as if it was typed on a calculator display which was then viewed upside down.
I know... :)
