The shutout

Benn
Yesterday, the Dallas Stars very quietly shutout the Minnesota Wild, 4-0. Just as quietly, the Stars are getting zero attention locally despite being in first place for a bulk of the season and for winning their seventh straight road game, the longest streak since 2001.

It's still amazing to me that most sports fans don't care about the Stars mostly because the Cowboys' season was over three months ago and if the Dallas Mavericks sputtered anymore, you'd think the American Airlines Center was hosting a VW Bug convention. Then again, jsut as the Stars are winning on the road, they'll give up just about anything at home.

Yesterday's goose egg was provided by Andrew Raycroft, the back-up goaltender. He also has the Stars' other shutout. Yes, the Stars have only two shutouts all season, which is hard to believe being in first place and all that.

Notes:
1. Jamie Langenbrunner played his first game as a Dallas Star since 2001. He had three shots on goal and did not factor on any goal. He was on a line with Steve Ott and Adam Burish.

2. Read Bob Sturm for his take on Langenbrunner's return.

3. Still just 21, Jamie Benn makes it happen. Two goals in the win. Already has 26 points after getting 41 in his rookie year.

4. Stephane Robidas is at a +9. He was -10 last year.

5. Mike Ribeiro has a six-game point streak going. Three goals and two assist in four January games.

6. Trevor Daley is sitting at +10.
