Looks like having a Google exec on the board is paying off. Googlemapping your photos is a fun diversion and makes for some great mash-ups. The handheld device sounds promising as well.

I have come to the idea that I ""need"" an iPod photo. I have never had an iPod before so I just have two quick questions. Do all of your pictures sync with the iPod from iPhoto? I really don't want this toi happen. I have 4.2 G of photos in iPhoto and I really would only want a few on the iPod. I do want all pics from the iPod to go to iPhoto. (from the media card reader attachment)
Also, can you do the same with iTunes? I don't want all the music in iTunes to be on the iPod.
Thanks,
Doug

Searching for a used MacBook with CS5 MS already installed (they are out there, but I semi question the legitimacy of some as they have no media included, just preinstalled), and I am starting to also question on whether finding one with CS5 is really important if my main purpose is to learn Xcode, write iPad apps, and teach my oldest girl how to do the same. For those of you with CS5, how useful is it for App creation? What other applications should I be looking at with those goals? I have found I can get a decent 2.4ghz dual core with 4GB ram plus HD for around $400 (without CS5). Thanks!

You mean my spouse's Rodgers drums were double kick? I better let them know. ;)
baha nah not like that, not the actual act of having two bass drums.. just the action of using two kick pedals in a song - i.e. double kick. thats what australian drummers refer to it as, i guess its different in the US/etc.

I haven't seen that kind of output before but I haven't been using LLVM. I believe that it's essentially an internal compiler error. There's something about your source code that it can't compile and has caused it to give up.
You haven't successfully changed the compiler since you're still seeing this error. There are two places that the compiler can be set, at the target level and at the project level. If you set it differently in both places the target level setting will be used. In most cases you don't want to set it at the target level and only set it at the project level.
See

and

You will be constrained by the through-put of USB with an external drive VM.
That said, you could put a VM instance on an external drive and run it from there.
Alternately just store the VM on the external, and move it to the SSD when you need it.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate on a 9 gig VM using 512K of memory...so you may not need as much SSD space as you think.
Of course, gaming will change this pretty fast.
Would it be better t o try and do this off of a memory stick? How many gigs would I need?
By games I'm talking about mostly casual games with small clients and low GPU usage...

Got one ACD 23" already.
Planning to purchase another one in next two weeks.
I think they're brilliant displays.
Been working with them a lot,
and never had any problems with color accuracy towards digital printing jobs.
I work mostly with posters, covers and booklets.
Sometimes in CMYC but most RGB.
Of course an upgrade is always welcome,
so if they come out with a new 'line' next Tuesday,
I'd be happy to grab one with build in iSight and a few extra ports...

I have a 120 euro gift certificate to this HUGE electronics/computer store but I dont know what to buy. Now all I want to know is if you were me what would you buy, nothing over 120(140 USD) euros is the only rule.
1000' of ethernet cable. :D
Okay seriously, I would get some recordable media, and an amp to drive my iBook through my Soundsticks.
I don't suppose you have a list of possibilities, do you?

Any recent (March/April 2011) AIR owners can you post your OEM firmware (Boot ROM Version and SMC Version) out of the box... without doing any UPDATES.
THANKS!

And as for your comment about Eminem, what do you mean he is the only artist who writes his lyrics more than he freestyles? Eminem is highly skilled, but is musically garbage. His last album was a joke. He doesnt hold a candle to the likes of Common Sense, Nas, Rakim, Chuck D etc...
I hear you on this one. Especially, early Nas/Rakim. Their later stuff is garbage.

You can get an iso image of windows 7 from lots of places. During the install process it will ask for the product key, and there you go!

Put the Windows disk on the ICH (system's SATA ports), as the card cannot dual boot like that in a MP (been tried before and has never worked).
Other than the Windows disk, it will work.
Is this something specifically to do with the Areca 1880 series cards and the Mac Pro 2010 or does this ring true for all other 3rd party RAID controllers?
When you previously said this is because one does not have access to firmware/EFI settings and can't change the boot device I am wondering why this is required, wouldn't there be a loader\boot menu that one can bring up? How would I then select between the primary OSX install on SSD1/Areca and Win 7 on SSD2/ICH if there wasn't a boot menu? Or is it simply some kind of limitation that will not allow the Mac Pro to detect and display in the boot menu stage any drives attached to the Areca controller other than the one that was set as boot drive in OSX?

But what do the Chinese characters mean?
They're shorthand for the website where they downloaded the colour bars for the LCD screen test.

i was (a student) living at union square in nyc (~1.5 miles north of the towers). i strolled out of bed at probably 10 am or so. did my morning email check... a friend who didn't email me often had written "i see bad things happening in nyc... are you ok?" i thought he meant in general bad things like gangs and whatnot... it didn't click. i forget what caused me to put on the tv, but eventually i did and i was in shock. emails back and forth to family discussing the events and various news reports that came out ("bomb" in pentagon, etc)...
my roommate returned a bit later, having walked down the street to school earlier in the morning, seeing the towers as usual. and then on the way back, they were gone.
classes were cancelled for a week.
my then girlfriend's dad and brother worked in the general area, and both were not heard from until after 1 pm... it was scary. they both made it up to my girlfriend's dorm by foot (2 miles or so).
later that day my roommate and i went down to around canal st. which was as far as they'd let us walk. and took pictures of dust covered cars, ambulances filled with people, etc. nothing super dramatic (they didn't let us get close at all), but still.. just unreal.
the next day, the wind changed and started blowing north.... our lungs were filled with the smoke as our windows were opened, unprepared. to this day, i feel i have developed allergies (never had them prior) as a result of the pollution in nyc after the attack. and of course, the city declared it clean in relatively little time, killing and disabling rescue workers and others who were ill prepared to deal with it. sad
reading all these experiences one thing keeps coming up (and came up in news stories a ton of course) and that is the people who stayed home that day, or got in late that day, etc etc who were nearly there, and nearly possibly killed... and it makes me wonder if anyone else has considered how amazing it is (in a scary way) that the death toll was *only* ~3000 when on any given day more like 100,000 people are in the two towers....
