Let's hope they are trying to patent multiple ideas. I hate to say it, that looks just plain ugly and complicated. I love the ipod for is it's simpllicity. This looks like a mess. To each his/her own.

I do tech work locally, full-time at SDSU. If you need some freelance/outsourced stuff, I'd be interested.
Also, there isn't a great forum for job announcements, so I moved it into community.

It also seems that commercial aspects of the site are now more important than the site itself, given the priority advertising space has.
given the importance of revenue to keep the site running, though, i think it makes sense

Does anybody know how far this resolution independence goes? Meaning, if finder and the dock are the only things that are resolution independent, but office, ilife, etc. still turn tiny, no thanks. But does carbon and cocao mean that apps built on those (which/how many apps) will automatically be scalable?
It's system wide. All system interface controls will be resolution independent out of the box.

"sliding doors" tabs can be problematic under older Mac browsers... here's what they look like under OS 9/IE 5.0:http://www.hypnagoggle.com/macrumors.gif
ignoring that, i like it. and standards compliance makes me tingle.

you could always focus your site on the powerpc aspect of macs, since that is your domain name, just an idea though
otherwise, its totally up to you, if you put a lot of effort into the site and everything it might end up being another great mac community, who knows
its up to you in the long run what you want to do with it though....just remember to have fun no matter what, otherwise it really isnt worth it if you ask me

@Munkees, do I understand correctly that you now make use of Aperture to manage "referenced" files: importing iPhoto's existing folders and/or albums?
Then, how do you organize your hierarchy: years (1999, ...) as a 'project', events like travels as a 'folder', a country (for example "USA") as an 'album', and a specific visit ("Yosemite", "Grand Canyon North rim", "Grand Canyon South rim") as a 'sub folder' or 'sub album')?

I purchased a couple of copies of Leopard from the 5th Avenue store. I posted an article in my blog (http://q80demon.blogspot.com/2007/10/iwaiting-for-leopard.html).

Why not just buy the Mac version of AutoCAD?
I am going to guess and say because a windows license cost much less than buying another Autocad license.

Hells to the yeah. Only in AAPL since around 330, from around January, but a profit of well over the price of a fully loaded Mac Book Pro makes me one happy person :D :D Only wish I could have gotten in sooner. I know people who are practically wiping their bums with 100 dollar bills thanks to apple stock.
Now for the earnings party :apple: Free apple martinis on me:cool:
What I want to know is who are the 3 idiots who disliked this topic
Apple to 1000 per share. Lets go!!

That's great! Thanks so much.
Now how do I get my jailbroken iPhone 4 on 4.2.1 to this baseband...? (06.15.00)
You should have never been directed to that page, it doesn't apply to you. You have an iphone 4 not a 3g or 3gs so you can't use ipad baseband. Ironically iclarified has very poor clarity in that article where it concerns the iphone 4.
You aren't unlocking that baseband period, no there's nothing you can do but wait and maybe some day (who knows when) in the future you can.

This is good but they need to be better about how they treat the developers. The also need to figure out how to better organize the app store. They should have a wishlist and reccomendations.
They already have both of those.

This is awesome news, again it's brilliant because it states the iPhone 5 will be the same size as the iPhone 4, when I was at The Gadget Show Live on Friday I looked at all the new phones, the Galaxy S 2, the new Motorola and LG's the Xperia Play and Arc, the Nokia E7 (beautiful industrial design BTW) and I compared them all to my iPhone 4 and they were all MASSIVE and I mean MASSIVE next to the iPhone. And as for Acer's 4.8" beast........ I saw that too and thought it was a PDA or mini computer, not a smart phone!!:eek:
I believe Galaxy S 2 is actually lighter than iPhone 4 (and thinner too). So, unless pocket size is an issue, what's there to worry about?

just use the migration assistant either in the new account setup via firewire or do the transfer after the account is created on the new computer via ethernet (just make sure the username/short name is not the same on your old computer). you can then just delete the account on the iMac either in single user mode or by creating a new admin account and deleting it when logged in from there

Just bring up your 'stroke' commands box and alter the parameters such as dash and gap sizes (you'll find this drastically alters the flow of the line when you change the actual stroke line width).
Its a case of tailoring the 'fit' of the dashes until you are happy.
You can also try different 'corners' within the same commands box.

Well, I see for me, some one who isn't going to buy an extra device to play portable games (my iphone has enough games I like, and not just the stupid little angry bird type games, stuff like old rpgs (and some new designed for the phone) and racing games) good and bad in this.
Good in that it may tempt more of the bigger developers to make stuff for my device (like Square has made quite a few games now though many of it is old games redone but hey, they're still fun :) , Capcom has some though in general I don't think Capcom has gotten the hang of making good iphone games, not as impressed with their stuff, we have Gameloft as well).
Bad in that the stuff that is encouraging people to move over is the angry bird type games and that it appears to make the more in depth stuff isn't as profitable. So in the long run we may not see as many games come out that are profitable.
Already it is sad when you look at the console market a lot of games are just games based on popular movies and not much innovation (cause the games based on the movies make the money and stuff like Okami and more innovative stuff gets ignored). I remember when I was reading an article complaining about how that was the trend in games (it happened to movies too once blockbusters came out. Movie studios were more interested in making blockbusters than unique movies, basically finding a formula that worked and sticking with it rather than trying anything different).
I think in terms of portable games, whether on smartphones or not, the market will produce what people want to play. I think in the portable market specifically (very different from the console market, as much as Sony wants to pretend people want to play full console-style games on the go), there is more demand for quick pick-up-and-put-down games, particularly ones with some depth, addictiveness, and significant content, which we're seeing more and more of.
At the same time, more 'serious' games like Square's releases and the recent Death Rally, and many others seem to be doing well enough that people looking for that kind of content shouldn't be too worried. I just wouldn't expect, say, a full-blown Assassin's Creed or similar console game, because those are console games. I don't think nearly enough people want that kind of experience on a phone to justify the cost.
As for most console games being licenced garbage these days, I would point out that has always been the case, back to the NES/SNES days. People only remember all the good games because, well, that's all people remember.
