Time is telling

Shot and a save
The question as to how good the Dallas Stars actually are is answered about three nights a week.
Last night they demolished a pretty bad Florida Panthers team, 4-1, with two goals late in the first period and another set in the second.

The Stars are now 5-1 overall, first in the division and 3-1 away from the American Airlines Center. The road woes are what sunk the Stars last season. They were 14-20-7 on the road and 23-11-7 at home.

Another good sign -- other than the utter domination -- was that they kept things under wrap defensively. The other night in Tampa, they allowed 44 shots on goal including periods of 15 and 20 shots. The Lightning scored on four of five power plays.

Last night, the Panthers mustered just 28 shots on goal and just 15 in the final two periods. They were 0-3 on the power play.

Another great sign is production from the rest of the team offensively. Tom Waddell, who missed hte last half of last season due to injury, scored twice as the Waddell-Jamie Benn-Steve Ott line picked the team up with three goals and three assists.

Benn has three assists and Ott tallied his first goal of the season. Also, a defenseman tallied an assist in each goal, one each from Karlis Skrastins, Trevor Daley, Nick Grossman and Stephane Robidas.

It's a formula for a really good team.
