Desperation

My friend Skidmark Steve said the Dallas Cowboys-Minnesota Vikings game would be "ugly."

Maybe. But I contend that it will also be very entertaining. By far the most entertaining match-up against 1-4 teams. Probably the best game of the week. Especially odd since it's highly possible that both teams miss the playoffs.

It's also odd that there probably hasn't been a match-up this season with more perceived talent. It's almost a Pro Bowl. Two great quarterbacks. An All-Pro running back. Two top tight ends. Several top receivers. Two salty defenses.

This really ain't that bad of a game. I might actually watch it. My house. 3 p.m. Party. Be there.

Offensive Line
Cripes. Andre Gurode is questionable. This means Kyle Kosier would move to center and Montrae Holland and Leonard Davis would start. Lest we forget 34-3, also. The Vikes -- featuring a breakout game from Ray Edwards -- sacked Tony Romo six times and dropped him to a 66 quarterback ranking.

Special Teams
The Cowboys called up former reality-show star Jesse Holley so they can have someone to tackle opponents on kick coverage. As it was, there was no one available to tackle anyone despite spending their entire 2009 draft on special teams duds.

Desperation
Who wants it more? The loser is sunk. The winner may be in too deep for it to matter. Which set of coaches is going to coach up their team better? Which group of players want this more? Who has that extra gear in their engine that puts them over the edge? Who's wearing the skirt here?

Prediction
Vikings 31, Cowboys 21
Moss gets two touchdowns. Wade Phillips blames Tony Dungy for the loss. Jerry Jones avoids the media. Tony Romo and Brett Favre are wheeled off on gurneys after they are creamed all day.
