Jake Skole
A broad look at the year of each minor league affilliate for the Texas Rangers. The Good
Mike Olt, the 2010 third rounder, hit the ground running hitting .293 with nine homers, 16 doubles and 40 walks in his professional premier.
Fellow 2010 draftee Ryan Rodebaugh had 34 K and just nine walks in 24 innings. Collected a 4-1 record in relief.
Jared Hoying was the Northwest League's Player of the year. Hit .325. Scord 47 runs. Hit 13 doubles, five triples and 10 home runs. Stole 20 bases. That is a Player of the Year.
Randol Rojas flew under the radar for the short-season affiliate. Posted a 2.79 ERA in 77.1 innings. Didn't strike out enough (40) and walked too many (20). Still, just two home runs allowed. Kept the ball in the park.
He hit just .250, but Jurickson Profar showed a lot in his pro debut after a ballyhooed signing as a Latin player. Collected 19 doubles and showed some patience at the plate with 28 walks and 46 strikeouts. Plus, he plays the toughest position on the field, shortstop.
The Bad
The 2010 second rounder Kellin Deglan hit just .159 in Spokane. He hit just three extra-base hits and struck out three times for every walk.
Nicholas McBride was taken in the 2009 draft, but made his pro debut in 2010. Opponents hit .279 off of his allowing 76 hits in 70 innings along with 20 walks.
Jake Skole will always play his professional career as a former first-round pick. The pressure thereof could be harmful because he is probably more of a third-round talent. He hit .254 and a whole bunch of nothing-special.
Ben Henry didn't do much in his fourth professional year. His 5.88 ERA and .309 BAA doesn't look good as he tries to catch on.
Justin Earls with a very inauspicious start to his pro career. Allowed as many earned runs (19) as he registered strikeouts (20).
